Randomly Random

Today I’m 28 weeks pregnant.  Not sure if it’s going fast or not… I can say it’s going by faster.  Especially because the holidays are approaching and my kids begin school track out next Monday.  They’ll be out for 3 weeks.  So by the time they’re back in school it’ll be December.

In 2 weeks I’ll be 30 weeks pregnant.  I had Zoe when I was 30 weeks pregnant.  So, I’m a little apprehensive.  But I have a feeling everything will be just fine.  But can’t blame me for being a little freaked out.  At least my son appears to be weighing in pretty big.  He weighed 2.5 pounds last Tuesday!

I’ve been thinking about how lucky I am lately.  How very blessed my family and I are.  And when little Mason gets here our family will be just that much more blessed.  Oh… did I mention his name?  We’ve decided on one…

I was telling my husband the other day that I’m so glad that we’ve had our kids so far apart.  I was thinking how lucky I’ve been with them… just for the simple fact that when I had Zoe Angelina had just started school, so Zoe got me all by myself for many hours a day.  Of course Angelina was my first so she got me all to herself for a time as well.  And now both my girls are in school so Mason will have time with just me for several hours as well. And then I’ll pick up my girls at school and have the special time with all 3 of them.  I just keep thinking… how lucky are my kids that they have each gotten uninterrupted alone time with me and sometimes my husband.  If I had my kids really close together it would have been fine, I’m sure.  But for me this way is the best.  Plus, it’s neat to see the excitement on my girl’s faces, because they REALLY truly understand what’s going on.  It’s super fun!

On a random note, I taught myself how to crochet.  I really wanted a blanket for Mason and I want to make him some hats, so almost 2 weeks ago I sat down and watched a couple YouTube videos by Crochet Geek (she was recommended by one of my Instagram friend).  Thanks Elizabeth!  :)  So I practiced a bit and then decided that I was just going to get started on crocheting Mason Benjamin a blanket.  It’s really large (like big enough to completely cover my 6 year old) but it’s great!  And it’s really warm.  Perfect for winter time.  I can’t wait to take pictures of him laying on it!

After I finished Mason’s blanket (in a week) I decided that I wanted to make another blanket.  So I’m currently working on this one…

And when that one’s done, I’ll be working on a blanket for Angelina and Zoe for Christmas.  And in the midst of those I’ll be learning how to make hats.  I tried yesterday… but it turned out pretty bad.  haha!!!  But I’m determined!

Last night was so fun (not the political part)… my mom came over and I taught her how to crochet too.  Have I mentioned how much I’m loving living close to my parents again?  It’s so fun hanging out with them!  :)  My dad and husband are out of town, so last night, my mom came over and all of us (my girls, myself and my mom) went to dinner, Michael’s and then came back to my house.  We relaxed, laughed and she learned to crochet.  It was so fun!

I’m currently crocheting a little runner to lay over a trunk I have in my living room.  It’s just a quick project.  :)

SO… what have you been up to lately?

  1. Love the blankets and the runner, Shey! I must watch the videos and learn to do that myself! Glad you and baby Mason are doing well! =)

  2. You picked up crochet so fast!!! I’m super impressed. Told you crochet geek was awesome :P Can’t wait to see what you whip up next!

  3. The easiest way to do hats is the knifty knitter round looms. You can get them at Hobby Lobby, Michaels, JoAnns or maybe even Wal-Mart. They have various sizes including a small one for infants. You can make several of the hats that size in a day. They are sooo much fun. Blessings!

  4. love his blanket! so awesome you taught yourself! way to go mama!

  5. I love the color palette of Mason’s blanket. I never learned to crochet. I can knit but I think I should learn to crochet because I find knitting awkward so I tend to put down projects halfway through. Winter is the perfect season to get started on yarn projects.

  6. Your belly is adorable. Have ALWAYS really loved a pregnant belly. But little Mason needs to to stay in there for a little while:) I was tickled when I read your post on crochet, I really want to learn, and of course you simply watch a u tube video and your off and running. You really are a very talented crafty girl. I SO miss your camera straps!!! I bought two from you and always ALWAYS get compliments! Well the blanket looks awesome. Take Care!

  7. Just got a new camera and thought it was time to get a couple new straps as well (it’s been a few years). Came to the blog and congrats on the good news! I’m 18 weeks prego and ours will be a little over 5 years apart as well. I’m glad to hear the positive on having them further apart. We always wanted space between our kids but have gotten a lot of flack from family and friends. Congrats to you and your growing family!
